April Fool's Daddy...

Liliana decided it would be fun to play a prank on Marc this morning. She came to me for ideas. I thought kissing a boy would really get a reaction out of Marc. So off she went. She told Marc "Daddy, I kissed a boy at school yesterday" then walked out of his office. Not even 10 minutes later, Marc came out into the kitchen and said "What's this about Liliana kissing a boy at school?" Liliana started laughing then said "I didn't tell mommy". Marc began asking more questions "Where did you kiss him?" Liliana replied "Outside" Marc "Where though?" Liliana "At recess" Marc "How old is he?" Liliana "He isn't in my class" Marc "So he's older than you?" Liliana "Yes" Marc "So where on your face did he kiss you?" Liliana "On the cheek" Marc "Well no more kissing boys you're too young" Marc gave Liliana a hug and as she hugged him back I winked at her to say "April Fool's Daddy"

He stopped hugging her, gave me THE look, and said "None of this April's Fools Day stuff!

Liliana and I couldn't stop laughing. To see him get so worked up over a "kiss"!

I have a feeling Liliana has a looooooooooooong road ahead of her when the dating days arrive!

Scorpion Tally...

After scorpion hunting each and every night we have managed to collect and kill 39! 1 of which was found in our bathroom, 4 of which were found on our front and back patio areas, 2 of which were found on rocks in the center of our yard, and the rest along the rock walls that surround our home!
As long as they stay outside I am one happy lady! Marc has a very long list of things to do in preparation for "scorpion season"!

So who's coming to visit us in the near future??!!

Scorpy Has Friends...

Curiosity struck, Marc and I decided to go scorpion hunting. First up, the back patio. Marc spotted 2 right away! Then it was time to walk the yard... we found 6 more but were only able to catch 4 of them! Since its not even officially scorpion season, I will admit I am a tad bit worried but we will make it through the summer!
For those interested in seeing what they look like in the dark under a black light... here ya go!

Welcome To The Neighborhood...

Well, we did it, we are all moved into our new, beautiful, perfect home! Now that we are settling in a new guest decided to come out and "play". Meet "scorpy" our not so friendly scorpion which I found creeping along the master bathroom floor this evening. Luckily the kids were down the hall in their rooms when I discovered our new poisonous friend. Since Marc was still away on his trip, I had to take a deep breath and catch the creepy crawly critter before it snuck away to taunt us another day. I grabbed a 52 oz plastic cup that was sitting on Marc's nightstand, held the cup in front of scorpy, took the plastic lid and flung him into the cup. He kept trying to escape but the plastic would NOT let him. I called the children over to view our new guest, then to have a pep talk about how dangerous these fellas are. I called a friend, which happens to be a local Arizonan, for some helpful information. She not only gave me helpful info, but told me to march over to the neighbors and ask if there is a scorpion problem in the neighborhood. I decided to take her advice . The neighbor greeted me, I said hello back, then went right into the question "Do you by any chance have scorpion problems in this neighborhood?" Her silence was a tell all... she soon replied "YES". I went on to tell her about scorpy, she went on to tell me that its way too early to be having scorpion issues. She explained that during the summer months its REALLY BAD. The things she told me made me shiver and itch. I don't think I will be sleeping very well tonight. As beautiful as this house is, if the problem is as bad as she said it is, I don't for see many years to come in this home. To make matters worse the scorpion found in our bathroom this evening is the "deadly" bark scorpion. Bark scorpions are the WORST of all scorpions residing in AZ. Their sting is so powerful and painful. Its deadly to children under the age of 5 yrs old. This is just beyond scary. We always knew certain parts of Arizona were prone to scorpions but never even gave this specific neighborhood a thought. Many friends are reassuring me that although we may find many new "guests" in our home over the coming months the chances of getting stung are not as high as one would think as long as we are watching for them and using our black lights faithfully.

Thank goodness for black lights!

Bee Stings Stink...

Today I took Ava and Garrison to the Arizona Museum for Youth. Before heading into the museum we made a quick stop at the bathrooms. As I was getting ready to do my duty, I noticed something moving on Garrison's leg (he was sitting in his stroller). It was a bee!! I quickly grabbed the lid to his snack container and flick it off him. Not knowing if he was allergic or not, I wanted it away from him before it had the chance to sting him. Too bad Garrison has sharp reflexes because the bee was no longer on his pant leg but stuck in between his thumb and index finger. He began to cry but would not let go of the bee. I separated the bee from Garrison to find the stinger sticking out of his index finger. He was SCREAMING. I can only imagine the pain he was feeling. I calmed him down, cleaned the area off, and discovered a lollipop in a pocket of my bag. Thank goodness for lollipops and bandaids is all I will say. They are the most wonderous of creations known to moms everywhere!

His finger did swell up but he was fine otherwise... I am so glad that he is NOT allergic to bees!

Oh and the kids enjoyed their time at the museum!

New House...

With a new job and a new baby on the way... why not add a new house to the list.
Yes we are moving! We have been looking for a house that can better accommodate our growing family and found one! The school district we are currently in does NOT thrill us so its another great bonus that this house is in a more desired area! Sadly its 1 (YES ONE) street away from the boundaries of our current school BUT we can still open enroll. If, for some reason, we can't get into our current school... the new school that we live near is just as good! This move is going to happen VERY quickly given that the longer we push it off.... the more pregnant I will be and the less likely I will want to participate!

With Marc starting a new job, most of the move will be on my shoulders. Since we aren't moving very far we can't justify paying movers. Luckily for the last couple months I have been slowly packing and have most of the house ready for transport. (Good thing I am a pro with all the moves we have under our belts!!) Not to mention, we have wonderful family members ready to assist, and a great friend's trailer on loan so that we don't have to waste our time with a moving truck!
The kids are beyond excited so hopefully they will be helpful now that they are a bit older.
Ok now for the details on the house...
Current house: 2881 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, den, and loft. 2 1/2 bathrooms, 2 car garage, on barely 1/8 of an acre of land
New house: 3739 sq ft, 5 bedrooms, den, and loft. 3 bathrooms, 3 car garage, on a little over 1/4 of an acre (its Arizona and we can't afford horse property!!)
This house will allow us to spread out a bit and enjoy some much needed space. Although our current home is decent in size, the bedroom sizes aren't all that spacious when putting more than one child in um! The kitchen in the new house is gorgeous. I can't wait to get cooking! As great as my current pantry is now... the new one is even bigger!! The list goes on. I am sure after we move in I will find plenty of negatives. One as OCD as myself always will! (At least I can admit that though!!!)
This move is exciting and intimidating at the same time. After moving all our belongings, the thought of keeping a 3700 sq ft home clean at all times is almost unimaginable but those that know me... know it WILL stay clean!
Wish us luck on our move and once we are settled I will contact everyone with the new address!
