I've made this trip 3 times solo and it gets easier and easier as the kids get older and older. With Marc at work, I loaded up the kids and off we went to Annette's! It wasn't the smoothest of drives as her road off the highway is being expanded making for horrendous California traffic. We sat on a road, 13 miles from her house for over an hour and half. All was ok once at her house though! See, most people think 10 kids under 1 roof would make for awful times but it's actually the opposite. They each have someone to play with and literally disappear in different directions. Other than bathroom usage and requiring a meal here and there, the kids entertain themselves leaving us adults to socialize practically uninterrupted! We stayed with Annette and family from Friday October 7 until Monday October 10. Friday we arrived late so the kids just enjoyed visiting with each other until it was time for bed. Saturday we spent the day hanging out at their house and laying low with plans to drive down to Knott's Berry the next day. Frank (Annette's husband) was off work on Sunday so he decided to join us at Knott's. (I know, what a brave man!) It actually worked out nicely as he was an extra adult to take younger kids on rides because Knott's isn't like Disneyland. They have a good amount of rides that require an adult ride with a child under xx amount of inches in height. The last trip we made to Knott's both Annette and I were ready to lose it on the staff because of the height restrictions. Not because we don't respect their rules but because the rides aren't nearly as unsafe as Disneyland and yet Disneyland has ZERO height restrictions (well except for Cars Land but thats different!) As you can see from the endless pictures, we had a blast. We made our way back home the following morning after a delicious birthday breakfast made especially for the birthday girl (Rosalia). We got an early start because Marc was planning to be home in time to greet us and spend some time with the birthday girl!
