Glue And THE MOST Expensive Popsicle Ever...

So 1 month and 2 days ago, Maia got stitches in her forehead.  There was a blog post about it.  Fast forward to this afternoon...she decided to climb on the bottom area of our staircase and slipped.  Our railing in the new house has a decorative trim on the bottom portion of the rail and guess who's forehead met it!  Yup, Maia managed to split her forehead AGAIN!  It was deep and bled immediately and a lot.  Knowing from last months experience the children's ER was our best bet, I "rushed" her over.  I say "rushed" because it was dinner time.  We stopped for food knowing she would probably be there awhile.  I'm so glad we (Liliana went with me like last time) stopped because we were there for just about 4 hours (just like last time)!
Maia was much better this time around.  She cooperated enough so that we didn't have to use the papoose.  She even gave herself her own dose of Motrin.  That impressed the doctor.  She said please and thank you even when she was in mid cry each time the dr or nurse came in and out of the room.  We left the hospital with just glue.  Hopefully this injury heals as quickly and as well as the other one did.  Here are some pictures of our eventful night!

Ear's Pierced...

For several years, Liliana has been begging us to pierce her ears.  Since she earned a grade point average of 3.9 all year in junior high, we decided it was time to reward her with something a bit bigger than a lunch.  She was so surprised and excited.  She was even more excited to be able to read about Austin Mahone while getting her ears pierced!  She is definitely turning into quite the teenager!!

Easter Egg Coloring...

With just moving into a new house, we kept egg coloring simple.  36 hard boiled eggs (6 eggs each), basic egg dying kits, and lots of paper cups so no one fought over dye!  I never thought the day would come that 36 eggs wouldn't be enough for my offspring to color for Easter!

So Stylish...

Daddy Daughter Hockey Game...

Liliana and Marc enjoyed a fun filled day at the hockey arena.  They didn't just enjoy a hockey game but a complete tour of the arena and locker rooms.  I love being able to spend quality time without children individually.  I know Marc also enjoys the quality time.  He was very excited to text me pictures and updates the entire day/evening.

Dillon's Field Trip...

Early this morning (5am to be exact) we awoke to get ourselves ready for the longest day field trip.  We needed to be at school by 6:45am to depart at 7am en route for Montezuma's Castle, Well, and Sharlot Hall.  The day was meticulously planned out but the question was... would the chaperones be able to execute.  I only say that because a couple years ago, Marc went on this same field trip (well almost same his was an overnight with Grand Canyon added into the mix) and the parents were awful.  We left 8 minutes late, which didn't have me too excited that the day would go 100% as planned.  I like to be on time.  I pride myself is being on time if not early.  My group of boys were going to be the "best" group...why?  Quite simple, I would be the best chaperone ever.  I'm not trying to toot my own horn, I just knew by looking at the other parents I would be the only chaperone to listen and follow instructions.  Even the teacher chaperone (she teachers 6th grade but was a chaperone for her 4th grade daughter) shocked me when she was giving the answers to her group of kids instead of letting them read the signage and figure out the answers as a group on their own.  I took the "figure it out on your own boys" approach.  Honestly, I thought that was the purpose of the worksheets that paired with each place we visited.  What would be the point of the kids doing these worksheets if the adults gave them all the answers?  The bus ride was long and torturous!  The first 2 hours, I was seated diagonally behind the loudest most rowdiest of kids!  He couldn't help by try and annoy talk to me...the ENTIRE 2 hours!  Thankfully after reaching our first destination the boys switched seats.  The next destination only took 20 minutes to get to, so that was a painless commute.  The 3rd destination was a bit further (a little over an hour).  That seemed like the longest hour by far. The girls seated in front of us couldn't keep their bums in their seats no matter how many times they were told to stay seated!  The passing of iPads and iPhones was ridiculous.  There is NO WAY my 9/10 year old would have his own in the first place but if he did, he certainly would NOT be passing it on a bumpy bus ride with lots of shaky clumsy hands.  I lost count how many screens were either already cracked or cracked from someone dropping it.  I'm equally shocked no one has tiny pieces of glass screen in their finger tips.  The technology also prohibited the kids from paying attention during the tours because they were busy either snapping pictures and sharing them with each other or just preoccupied on their devices.  Did I mention it was ridiculous?!
Thankfully my group of boys had their devices put away each time we arrived at a destination.  And guess what... my group was the only group that always had their worksheets (many "responsible" chaperones left their groups paperwork on the buses) AND they had all their answers written down before we boarded the buses after touring each destination.  Now I know I sound a bit conceded but I don't mean to.  I am appalled that so many grown adults cared more about socializing with each other, being on their iPhones (one parent was even complaining because there was no where to charge her phone!), or kissing tail to teachers that their groups weren't doing what they were suppose to or learning what they were suppose to.
Aside from the lack of responsible adults along for this field trip, I had so much fun.  Dillon isn't an overly emotional child that cares if his mom or dad is present for a field trip but I could tell he was happy I was there.  It is always fun to see any of my kids in the school environment whether it be during a school activity, helping in the classroom, or attending a school field trip.
Dillon had been to the first two places we traveled to but both he and I had never been to Sharlot Hall.  We both found it very fun and interesting to explore.  It reminded us of all the history back east.  Before heading back to school to end our field trip, we had to stop for dinner.  Yup over 125 students and a handful of parents and teachers invaded a local Peter Piper Pizza!  Even though we ran about 10-15 minutes late on most of our itinerary, we made good time and arrived back at school only 20 minutes late.
